Saturday at Gram & Gramps

The kids’ cousin Bella will turn five next week, so we went to the grandparents to celebrate. Since it’s such a beautiful spring day, there’s no reason to not play in the dirt pile.

Our old yard was a fraction of an acre and was easily mowed with an electric push mower and 100 feet of cord, but now we have almost two acres of lawn so we need a new mower. (Note to self: put the old mower up on craigslist) Joel worked decided right away that new mowers aren’t as good as old one after much hunting found an old Cub Cadet that would serve us well since it has an easy engine to maintain, optional attachments like a snow blower and tiller, and his dad has one and says it is a good machine. Joel diligently searched eBay and craigslist and found the 1970s-era mower and snowblower nearby in Connecticut. His dad has a truck and helped us pick them up. And then at midday on Sunday he headed up to Troy, VT, which is on the Canadian border and got a tiller—it’s time to get the garden going.

our weekend guests

socratres1

Evie’s nursery school has a guinea pig named Socrates, which sold the school for Evie as soon as she visited. She called it the Guinea Pig School while we were waiting to move to distinguish it from Jennie’s School where she was still attending. Every weekend and during vacations the students’ families take turns pet-sitting and this past weekend was our turn. She was an easy guest: no biting, no getting lost under furniture, and no peeing on anyone.

We also had PopPop or Cliff, Joel’s dad visiting as well which made the weekend more of an event. The kids had a great time with both of them.

Higgins Armory

Owen and Evie went to visit Gram and Gramps during February vacation and they all went to Higgins Armory in Worcester. They had fun looking at all the armor and swords and they even got to try on armor too.
