Rocketship!

Checking out launch readiness

Today was a beautiful summer (!?) day, with hardly a breeze. Since we needed to vacate the premises anyway for an open house, we went with Uncle Dave & Carin to Van Cortland Park to launch a few rockets.

All in all, a very successful day. All rockets returned safely to Earth, and none of the soccer games were interrupted by a rocket landing.

Yorktown Grange Fair

Sawing logs at the Yorktown Grange Fair

This year, i didn’t compete in the watermelon eating contest - I think it rained that day. Instead, I enlisted the help of all hands in the sawing contest. After snapping this shot, Sue joined in, too.

We had a slow rhythm, but chewed up an awful lot of wood on each stroke.

Here, Owen is showing our slice. I think it was red maple.

Our piece of the fair - cut with the sweat of our brows.
