before and after
I’ve always hated the aluminum siding on our house and Joel has some free time so he decided to rip it off. Actually he did lots of research and toyed with painting it to at least neaten up the flaking paint. (Isn’t aluminum siding supposed to last forever?) But, of course, we tested the siding and the flaking paint was lead. Makes since based on its age. So we peeked under the siding in various spots and the shingles seemed intact and we decided the siding should come down to stop the potential lead problems. Plus we can get some cash for it at a recycler.
We were happily surprised to find green stained cedar shingles under the second-story siding. Only the lowest course of shingles has wear and needs work. The new windows also make the place look better.
