Home at last!
Some folks have asked how Owen likes his new baby sister. So far, so good. He’s curious about her, and peeks into her crib when she wakes up (maybe he’s just checking if she’s still hanging around).Owen helped Evelyn into her car seat, and once she was home even wanted to hold her once. As long as she’s not looking to play with his toys, I think they’ll get along just fine.As a side note, you may notice that Evelyn looks a little orange in the bottom photo. She’s NOT an Oompa-Loompa! Evelyn’s a little jaundiced and the pediatrician is keeping an eye on it. Some degree of jaundice occurs in half of full-term babies, and eighty percent of pre-term babies, so it’s not unusual. It’s usually caused when the baby’s liver falls a little behind because the baby had been relying on the mom’s liver when in the womb. Once the liver kicks in, jaundice goes away. Treatment is fairly simple – sometimes a jaundiced baby is placed under UV lights to help break up the bilirubin that causes the color. Basically, jaundice is an easily treated condition and is not threatening unless untreated.
