Photos of Evelyn!

So enough already with the pictures of Suzy, Joel, or Owen. These are the basic shots for you to enjoy, either on-screen or to download and print.A quick update – 24 hours ago, Evelyn received the last of her precautionary antibiotics, and was moved from the isolet to a regular crib. However, once in the NICU, she can’t return to well baby. While her breathing, temperature, disposition, and everything else may make her a well baby, protocol insists that she remains monitored.Still, she is well enough that Evelyn has been permitted to be taken to Sue’s room for up to an hour, so we finally had a chance for Owen to see her and to take these photos. If Evelyn reverses her weight loss (standard for a newborn) she’ll be allowed to come home today.imagedownload a printable pictureimagedownload a printable pictureimagedownload a printable picture

Almost a family portrait

Evelyn had a little fluid in her lungs, as often occurs with a sectional delivery, but since it took a little while to clear up the neonatologist decided to put her in the Neonatal ICU. Evelyn’s lungs cleared up that afternoon, but once a baby is in, she’s stuck for a few days. So, it’s a little disappointment not to be able to hold Evelyn that much. The good news is that Evelyn seems to be doing fine.Anyway, that’s why you’re not seeing a ton of photos. We did manage to get one of the nurses to shoot a picture for us (photos & videos are generally verboten to protect the privacy of other families & babies who may be in the background).imageimagedownload a printable picture

Big Bobo and the new bed

Nellie and Bruce gave Owen a huge stuffed monkey for Christmas. Owen thought it was great because not only was it massive, but it was also a monkey. He really likes Hug by Jez Alborough which is about a monkey named Bobo who wants a hug and with the help of some elephants he finally finds his mom and gets a hug. The book has only three words: Bobo, Mama, and hug and Owen can say Bobo and Mama, which isn’t bad since he can only say about 10 words.imageSo we’ve taken to calling the new monkey Big Bobo since the Bobo in the book is quite small. He is also helping Owen make the jump from the crib to a twin mattress. Since we’ll be needing the crib for Baby #2 in less than a month we decided to get a mattress for Owen to start the transition out of the crib. We weren’t sure how he’d do, but yesterday he went for the mattress for his nap and hasn’t turned back. Today Big Bobo has joined the pile of stuffed animals and will hopefully also provide a cushion should Owen, who is prone to wander in the night, roll into the wall.
