Suzy and Joel and Owen and Evie

On Wednesday Owen had a few funny red marks. Maybe they could be bug bites or perhaps a heat rash, but by Wednesday night they multiplied and by Thursday morning it was pretty clear that the boy had chicken pox. Joel and I took him to the doctor and he confirmed our diagnosis. Luckily Owen seems pretty chipper and hasn’t done much scratching.According to the doctor, he contracted the chicken pox about two weeks ago which means some poxie kid in the Netherlands gave it to him since we’d only been back 11 days on Wednesday. Also according to the doctor it is better that he suffers with the disease for a few days than to get the vaccine and then wonder if it is still working and get the pox later in life. Still he looks pretty rough and having a low-grade fever in the summer is no fun.
