Attic organization

imageWe spent part of this busy weekend finishing shelving in the attic. Distracted with other tasks, we had been chucking our stuff upstairs like medieval or renaissance folks who threw their garbage out the windows. The solution: these eight-foot long shelves that Joel put together by eye. I mean, the floor and the lumber are both uneven so trying to use a square was pointless. Anyway, this is the kind of rough work which he likes better than finish work anyway. Joel can check an item off his to-do list without taking all day.Total materials: eight 1x3x8s, two 2x3x8s and one sheet of plywood; nails, screws, and bolts. All told, probably less than 30 bucks.Owen enjoyed exploring the attic for a couple of hours, too. He doesn’t get up there much, so everything is new to him. Plus, he gets to help us build things! He can use a hammer, screwdriver, and drill.
